Our promise to reach Net Zero by 2050
We’re taking big steps to do our part in fighting climate change. Almond Care Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy.
How we’re measuring our impact
Our baseline year is set as 2022/23, the first year in which complete and accurate data across Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories was collated.
Our baseline (2022/23) emissions are as follows:
Scope | Baseline Emissions (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 – Direct emissions (vehicles, gas heating) | 45 |
Scope 2 – Purchased electricity | 30 |
Scope 3 – Business travel, commuting, waste, procurement | 90 |
For the most recent reporting year (2023/24), our emissions were as follows:
Scope | 2023/24 Emissions (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 – Direct emissions (vehicles, gas heating) | 42 |
Scope 2 – Purchased electricity | 28 |
Scope 3 – Business travel, commuting, waste, procurement | 85 |
What are our carbon reduction targets?
We believe in measurable action, which is exactly why we’ve set concrete goals for our organisation for the years ahead:
- 2025: Cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 10 per cent against baseline
- 2030: Reduce total emissions by 30 per cent against baseline
- 2035: Reduce total emissions by 50 per cent against baseline
- 2050: Achieve Net Zero emissions
What are our carbon reduction initiatives?
To make sure we achieve our targets, we’re implementing multiple initiatives across our business, including:
- Energy efficiency – LED lighting, smart meters and energy-saving appliances.
- Renewable energy – Switching to renewable electricity by 2026 and exploring solar panels.
- Sustainable transport – Electric and hybrid vehicles, car sharing and flexible remote working.
- Waste reduction – Expanding recycling and reducing paper use.
- Responsible procurement – Choosing low-carbon suppliers and embedding sustainability in purchasing.
- Staff training – Building carbon literacy and awareness across our teams.
Declaration and governance
Our Carbon Reduction Plan is approved by our Board of Directors and reviewed annually. We report all of our progress in line with Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements to ensure full transparency.
How we calculate our emissions
All emissions data is calculated using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and UK Government DEFRA guidelines.
Data comes from energy bills, vehicle logs and supplier records to provide a clear and accurate picture.
All calculations are based on activity data multiplied by the appropriate emissions factors, in line with PPN 06/21 guidance.
Making sure our plans have a sustainable future
Our Carbon Reduction plan will be reviewed annually.
Every year we will:
- Update the emissions inventory
- Assess our progress against our targets
- Update our targets
- Detail the actions taken and those still to come
The revised plan will then be published right here on our website to ensure transparency and accountability.
Join us in our commitment to a greener future!
