Clinical Director
Julia is Almond Care’s Clinical Director. She qualified as a general nurse, spending over a decade in the NHS and private sector.
Julia has vast experience putting into place complex care packages for both adults and children with spinal injuries, traumatic brain injuries, acquired brain injuries and long-term ventilation.
Before qualifying as a nurse, Julia worked in community and nursing homes as a healthcare worker, where she gained her passion and career-long commitment to caring for the disabled or seriously injured.
Julia trained as a Nurse at Coventry University, qualifying in 2003, and worked at a number of hospitals including University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW).
She was also active in back care and became a moving and handling trainer. She gained skills in mentoring and assessing by teaching nursing students in the critical care unit. In 2010, Julia left Cardiothoracic Critical Care and went to work in General Critical Care where she gained knowledge on neurological conditions.
She looked after patients with traumatic spinal cord injury and brain injury. She also worked in the community looking after paediatrics and adults on long-term ventilation with Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and other Neurological Conditions.
To consolidate her paediatric skills Julia worked in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit that specialises in Congenital Heart Disease.
Julia is experienced in setting up and managing 24-hour complex care packages in the community and after leaving nursing she became a Neurological Specialist Case Manager, carrying out Paediatric and Adult Immediate Needs Assessments or Initial Case Management Assessments as well as on-going Case Management.
Julia has been responsible for the recruitment of large staff teams, their induction and training and day-to-day management.

Julia has a BSc in Adult Nursing and Mentoring and Assessing in Practice (ENB998)
She is registered with the NMC and is a member of the RCN, CMSUK and Paediatric Palliative Care Forum, RCN Children & Young People Specialist Care Forum and RCN Children and Young People Continuing & Community Care forum.
