Autism Awareness Week 2023

This week is Autism Awareness Week. Autism is a developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behaviour.

According to the National Autistic Society, approximately one in every 100 people in the UK are on the autistic spectrum, which means there are around 700,000 autistic people in the UK alone.

If you need support, having a tailored care plan can help you manage your autism.

What is autism?

Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that presents various challenges, particularly in the areas of social communication and interaction.

Individuals with autism may experience difficulty in making and maintaining social connections, interpreting social cues, and adhering to social norms.

In addition, individuals with autism may also display repetitive behaviours or routines.

What is Autism Awareness Week?

Autism Awareness Week is an annual event that takes place during the last week of March. It aims to increase understanding and acceptance of autism, raise awareness of the challenges faced by autistic people, and promote inclusion and equality.

The National Autistic Society organises various activities and events during the week to educate people about autism and raise funds.

This week is also an opportunity for people to ask questions and learn more about autism. Autism Awareness Week is an important opportunity to ask questions and further your understanding.

By learning furthering our knowledge as a society, we can all help to create a more inclusive and supportive society for autistic people and their families.
